The Ultimate Cambridge Punting Picnic Tours

Enjoy a British summertime picnic whilst punting – there’s nothing more Cambridge!

The sparkling sun shines, the river bustles with impressed tourists and locals larking around on punts. The inspiring sights of the University of Cambridge riverside Colleges surround you as you enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea on our punting tour.

Your chauffeur will guide you through the entertaining history of the city on your private punt, through the famous Colleges, unique bridges and gorgeous gardens.

With a private tour, your boat and a scrumptious picnic will be ready and waiting for you and your guests to arrive at your chosen time. Your guide will push you along the river on a traditional punt, dressed with blankets and cushions for your comfort.

The picnic is provided in partnership with the well-known Cambridge institution, Fitzbillies. This craft bakery is famed for its sticky Chelsea buns and is one of the longest established bakers in the city, founded in 1921. Each person on the tour receives the premier A choice picnic box of goodies including:

Sparkling elderflower

Finger sandwiches on brown and white bread
Fillings of smoked salmon, home baked ham and mustard, cheddar cheese and chutney, cream cheese and cucumber.

Sultana scone
Served with raspberry jam and clotted cream.

Three mini bakery cakes
Fruit tart, chocolate eclair and macaron.

If you’re looking for a lighter bite, then take a step away from the everyday mayhem and try out our luxurious cream tea punting experience.

Punting with Picnic Information

Our 50 minute picnic tours are bookable up to 24 hours in advance.

Please check in with our team at our Jesus Green Moorings just 2 minutes along the boardwalk from the Quayside. For last minute bookings please contact us on 01223 322200 and we’ll do our best to organise a boat for you.

Both our boats and our employees will be dressed for the weather on the day. If it’s sunny, there will be no hot water bottles and your guide will be wearing a waistcoat. Alternatively, at colder times of the year, your guide will wear a professional coat and your boat will be equipped with umbrellas and hot water bottles.

What to do if you’re running late? Your private booking will be held for you for 10 minutes, after this point it wouldn’t be possible to go on the tour as this would mean missing our later bookings, affecting other customers. Please call us the moment you know of any delays to your schedule and we’ll try to organise things to accommodate you.
