Lots of companies seem to be touting for your business to go punting along the River Cam. The staff at Rutherfords were friendly and professional and the boat came with cushions, blankets and umbrellas. The tour was 50 minutes long and very informative.

This was second visit to go punting on the River Cam. We had a superb chauffeur and guide who was a Cambridge alumnus. The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful time gliding down the Cam and under the various bridges.

We can definitely recommend Rutherfords…..the punts were really comfortable and well equipped with cushions, blankets and even umbrellas just in case. The best we saw on the river in fact!

Rich was our punter and he was very friendly and knowledgeable about the colleges and bridges we passed on the 50 minute tour, sharing lots of facts along the way.

A really good way to see parts of Cambridge you wouldn’t otherwise see!

We had a wonderful experience punting in Cambridge with Rutherford Punting. Max was our tour guide, and he was excellent! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging, making the whole trip enjoyable. His explanations and interesting stories added so much to the experience. This was a fantastic tour.  Our guide was very knowledgeable (and funny), providing the history of the university, information about noteworthy people who've attended the various colleges, as well as discussing student pranks and what it's like to be a student at Cambridge.  The bridges and campus buildings are absolutely beautiful and this tour provides a different perspective that you don't get from walking the streets.  Highly recommend!

Your booking includes chilled Champagne and flutes for your group. We choose only the best Champagne for our tours, with ripe fruit notes and a refreshing taste that is perfect for any celebration or special occasion.

The Champagne Tour is bookable up to 24 hours in advance. Your group is invited to bring snacks and soft drinks with you on your tour. For last-minute bookings please contact us on and we’ll do our best to organise a boat for you. To avoid disappointment, it is best to book Champagne punting in advance, but our team can do everything they can on arrival to give you a unique experience. In some cases, we might not be able to offer you a private punting tour, but we do have shared punting options to allow you to enjoy a relaxing trip with other visitors.

Both our boats and our employees will be dressed for the weather on the day. If it’s sunny, there will be no hot water bottles or umbrellas and your guide will be wearing a waistcoat. Alternatively, at colder times of the year or in the evening, your guide will wear a professional coat and your boat will be equipped with umbrellas and hot water bottles.

If you’re running late, your Champagne booking will be held for you for 5 minutes, after this point it wouldn’t be possible to go on the tour as this would mean missing our later bookings, affecting other customers. Please call us the moment you know of any delays to your schedule and we’ll try to organise things to accommodate you. We offer both private punting and shared punting tours as well as our experiences, so we will work to adapt where needed, but also have other customers to consider.
